Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions about diamonds and fine jewellery:
Do You Work with Silver?
Most silver jewellery is crafted from sterling silver (925 silver). This is a soft metal that can deform quite easily and doesn’t have a very long lifespan. Because of this, it is not ideal for fine jewellery that features diamonds or precious gemstones. Sterling silver struggles to provide a secure setting for stones during everyday wear and tarnishes quickly, which reduces its lifespan.
Silver also poses challenges when it comes to after-care. Repairs, claw re-tipping, resizing, and general maintenance can be difficult. For these reasons, we exclusively use high-grade gold or platinum. These metals ensure that your jewellery—whether an engagement ring, earrings, or pendant—meets our exceptional standards, securely holds your diamonds and gemstones, and lasts for years.
While silver is more affordable, gold and platinum offer better resilience and long-term value. Our expert jewellery designers can guide you in choosing a metal that suits your lifestyle and personality. Contact us to explore all your options with our designers.
Why Can’t I Buy Diamonds and Fine Jewellery Directly Online?
Unlike typical online stores, we don’t offer an “add-to-cart” option for our luxury jewellery. Diamonds and fine jewellery are personal, often sentimental purchases, and we prefer to prioritise tailored service over a transactional approach. We value open communication with our clients to deliver a bespoke and personal experience.
We warmly invite you to visit our Sea Point showroom in Cape Town to explore our diamonds and designs in person—no obligation required. Can’t make it? We work with local and international clients through WhatsApp, email, or Zoom consultations. Our esteemed designers provide free, no-pressure advice, and we ship high-end pieces worldwide with tracked, insured delivery.
Our goldsmiths and designers can custom-craft jewellery to your specifications. To start the process, share details like ring size, diamond clarity, colour, budget, and preferred metal via our Contact Us page or by booking a consultation at our Sea Point Store.
Why Aren’t Prices Listed on Your Website?
Our jewellery is custom-made, so the prices of the items will depend on your unique preferences. What Does “GIA Certified” Mean and Why Is It Important?
“GIA” stands for the Gemological Institute of America, established in 1931. Known for creating the “4 Cs” (Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat), GIA is the world’s most respected authority on diamond grading and gemstone identification. Their rigorous standards set the global benchmark for the jewellery industry.
A GIA certification ensures your diamond’s quality and value align with the International Grading System. Each report includes a unique ID number you can verify on the GIA website for added peace of mind. Choosing GIA-certified diamonds means that you are protected by unbiased, top-tier standards.
